From the Shadows: Card Game

This was a project for a game design course that showed the iterative process of creating a game from the ground up. I chose to make a card game that is meant to be played by a single person.

The first set of images are pages from my design journal in which I go through the process of creating the game by starting with simple verbs. I proceed to then rework the game idea whilst adding visuals to the verbs and create goals for said verbs.
After creating goals, I then began adding challenges/obstacles/rules by having the player deduce clues from the back of the covered creature cards to prepare traps and survive combat in the encounters.
This image is a digitized document of some of the journal entries from reworking the verbs to illustrating the narrative.
The second set of images are pages from my design journal in which I illustrate the narrative while creating a razor statement and pitch to see if it would be effective to draw consumers in.
After making those I began the changes stage by constructing a placement map of the game, card information, data charts, damage calculations, creature variety/types, and finalizing current details.
The third set of images are images from my digitized design diary timeline in which I go through the process of creating the game from start to end.
The fourth set of images are pages from my design journal in which I make changes from playtesting and written instructions to construct the card game with a required materials list.
The fifth set of images are pages from my polished post mortem of creating From the Shadows: Card Game.
Final Product:
The last set of images are the final end product of the card game with instructions to print and setup for a player to enjoy.
Note: These must be printed front to back in order for printing to be properly done.
